GO HOME SOONER AFTER OUTPATIENT SURGERY
OSS is in the news! Read Ortho Spine News's feature on OSS patient safety here.
All physicians at Orthopaedic Surgery Specialists perform “outpatient” procedures in both hospitals and Ambulatory Surgical Centers (ASC). Our physicians are affiliated with Providence St. Joseph Medical Center and Glendale Adventist Hospital. In addition, they perform outpatient procedures at Buena Vista Surgery Center (BVSC) and Glendale Surgical Center (GSC). Patients, who are candidates for and choose to have outpatient surgery, go home the same day.
Outpatient Joint Replacement Surgery is now available
Patients who have a joint (knee or hip) replacement can actually go home the same day, too. However, most choose to stay for 23 hours (overnight) so they benefit from the continued one to one nursing care in a personalized setting.
Benefits of outpatient (23 hour) joint replacement surgery include:
- One to one nursing care
- Physical therapy within 12 hours
- Rapid mobilization to get you back to independence quicker
- Decreased risk of hospital associated complications, such as infection and blood clots
- Recover in the comfort of your home within 23 hours
- Decreased facility costs
