I was referred to Dr. Raven after suffering a severely fractured wrist in a motorcycle accident. Because of the severity of bone loss, I had to have two different surgeries, both of which were done by Dr. Raven. Before having the second surgery, I got a second opinion from another surgeon (Dr. Raven encouraged me to do this), and, was extremely impressed with Dr. Raven's work, saying it was pretty much a miracle what he was able to do, given how bad the initial injury had been. Throughout the entire six month process of recovery, Dr. Raven was always available when I had questions and always patient and very positive. Never before have I had a Doctor whom I could e-mail with a question or concern and have a response within 10 minutes - every time. He always went out of his way for us. I had a great experience with Dr. Raven. He removed a ganglion cyst in my wrist and did an amazing job. He took the time to explain to me the procedure, and paid attention to my wishes and concerns. He personally called after the surgery to make sure I was doing well and I had great follow up appointments post-op. Like many doctors, he is indeed very busy and doesn't have much time, but he seemed to be caring and did the best with the time we had. My recovery was really fast, and I have now a clean and minimal scar. And his office staff is very friendly! Dr. Raven is awesome! I had a complicated injury where I tore the ligaments and tendons in my right middle finger. I need 2 surgeries to repair the damage, with therapy after both each surgeries. I am so grateful to Dr. Raven that I can use my finger and grip a knife, since I'm a Chef. He has a great bed side manner, and I really believe he cared about my welfare. He was there right away and took care of my hand but my effection was so bad that i had to have surgery... Dr. Raven came highly recommended by my general physician when it was determined that my left hand was in need for ligament reattachment surgery. His specialty is in sports medicine and has a slew of famous athletes as his clients. If he can tend and fix a pro hockey player, he can fix me! Dr. Raven is one of the top orthopedic surgeons in California (check out his credentials). He's very kind and was able to rebuild my tattered left hand after a serious hockey accident. I was really worried about my basal thumb arthritis which had been diagnosed by a physician I had known many years. As I am a dental hygienist, I need full strength and flexibility in the use of my hand. I was concerned about the necessary surgery. I wanted a second opinion and was referred to Dr. Raven by a friend who had the same procedure. What struck me at first about Dr. Raven was his exceptional capacity to listen and to think aloud as he made his diagnosis and his recommendations. His expertise and his thoughtful ways of talking about my condition and the surgical procedure evoked high trust in me and in my husband who accompanied me to my appointments. I decided that even though his office is far out of my geographical area that it would be my wisest choice to have Dr. Raven do my surgery. Dr. Raven is so very responsive to questions or concerns that I sent him through email. He would respond very quickly to explain, reassure, or ask me to come in for him to have a look whenever I expressed a concern. I have to say that I have never met a more attuned and thoughtful physician. I have felt cared for by he and his staff from diagnosis, to surgery and through aftercare. He has taken extra time to communicate with my hand therapist so that her work with me is most effective. My hand is healing very well and I can already tell full function will be restored. Dr. Raven repaired severed tendons in my fingers a little over a year ago. I had cut them pretty bad and with surgery he was able to reattach both of the tendons. It was an extremely long healing process but with the help of both Dr. Raven and my physical therapist, Robert Dorer, I was able to regain use of my right hand. Dr. Raven is not only amazing at what he does but he is the kindest doctor I have ever had the pleasure of working with. I had consultations with three separate surgeons in regards to my hand and Dr. Raven was without a doubt my top choice. His level of skill is incredible and he truly cares about his patients. He is also among the top orthopedic surgeons in California. He will take the time to address any questions or concerns you might have, and if you email him he will personally respond to you. Joint Reconstructive surgery
Dr Raven is the BOMB! My Basil Left Thumb Joint Reconstructive surgery on 02.20.2012 is doing absolutely FANTASTIC! I have had over 9 surgeries in my life and all have been very successful and I have always chose older surgeons and I was very leery/skeptical of Raven's youthfulness however after meeting Raven I had the strongest gut-feeling he was the one to repair me. Man was I right! What an excellent surgeon. I've already recommended him to three people! The physical therapist was very surprised at my accelerated recovery. Dr. Raymond Raven is a most AMAZING surgeon. I am a massage therapist who suffered an accident that left my right forearm in 9 pieces. Thanks to his skill I was back massaging in 3 months! I am back to doing 7-8 massages a day with no problem, and i know it is because of his work.

Dr. Raven saved my race for me. Three weeks before my Ironman race he took me out of the cast the ER had just put on for a fractured elbow and sent me off to physical therapy. I was able to finish my ironman thanks to his forward thinking and the shot he offered me several days before the race to reduce swelling. He worked with me every step of the way and was quick to respond to any questions I sent through emails. I couldn't have done it without him and I was glad to have found him. Thumb Arthritis Surgery / Basal Joint Reconstruction
"After many years of playing musical instruments and working as a flooring contractor, my right hand apparently had had enough. When I put my hand to my ear and moved it, it sounded as if I was walking on gravel. I went to my internist who gave me a cortisone shot. After several years of a debilitating arthritic hand, my internist sent me to Dr. Raven. At first, Dr. Raven tried conservative measures – more cortisone at the precise location; then I went to a hand therapist who made a splint to wear in the evenings. Those measures failed to relieve the pain and usefulness of my right hand. At this point, Dr. Raven suggested surgery. At first I balked; but then after a month or so, I acquiesced after realizing that I needed a change in my hand's behavior. Therefore, on April 25th, 2007, I went in for surgery. Dr. Raven, his staff and the hospital were great. After four or five months, I had marked improvement; and after seven months my strength is returning and pain is nonexistent. Dr. Raven is a dedicated and very personable surgeon who answered every question I had. He also made excellent incisions. I am very happy with the outcome of the surgery." – Patient P.I.

In January, 2008, Dr. Shahan Yacoubian replaced my arthritic left hip that was in a painful bone-on-bone condition. While it is true that the modern techniques played a role in this difference of results, the fact is that Dr. Yacoubian operates with the most updated and modern equipment and knowledge; these being the operative factors in my case. I just finished my one year anniversary evaluation with flying colors and had only returned during this past year for routine check-ups.
