Where Does it Hurt?

Hip

The hip is comprised of the femur and the pelvis and is controlled by some of the largest and strongest muscles in the body.  The hip, like the shoulder, is a ball and socket joint capable of ranges of motion in all planes of movement.  This also means a potentially higher degree of instability.  Because of its mobility, strength, and continuous loading, the hip and its associated structures are exposed to the possibilities of injury and hip pain.

At OSS, we recognize the importance of the orthopedic subspecialist.  Dr. Stephan Yacoubian, a board certified orthopedic surgeon and sports medicine specialist, and Dr. Shahan Yacoubian, a board certified orthopedic surgeon and fellowship-trained joint reconstruction and revision specialist, use the latest clinical skills, diagnostic tools, and treatment techniques to care for the hip and its associated structures.  Here are just a few of the common hip problems successfully cared for by Dr. Stephan and Dr. Shahan Yacoubian.

  • Muscle strains
  • Ligamentous sprains
  • Fractures of the femur, hip, and pelvis
  • Arthritis and bone spurs
  • Failed hip replacements
  • Dislocations
  • Bursitis
  • Labral tears
  • Complex trauma

Most hip pain and related issues can be effectively treated conservatively with medications, injections,  modifications to weight bearing, and therapy.  But if surgical intervention is indicated, Dr. Stephan Yacoubian and Dr. Shahan Yacoubian are experts in the most up to date minimally invasive procedures to get you back  to feeling like your old self.
